AFT will be offering special intensive writing workshops for any student who wants to focus just on their writing. Each workshop session is for one day only, for a full three hours, but you can join as many as you like!
What you can expect: The first half hour will be instruction- and lecture-based. In this half hour, students are given materials (worksheets, written prompts, practice writing exams, etc) and instructions on how to write an argumentative analysis essay. The remaining 2 ½ hours will be a blend of personal one-on-one assistance with the student, peer-to-peer review, and revisions.
What is expected of the student: Each student will be expected to complete a full essay within the workshop hours. They are welcomed to bring an existing AFT essay to revise, otherwise, they will be given prompts. Notebooks, paper, pens, paper, clipboard, etc. will not be provided, so students must come prepared.
Years 4-5/5-6 students will be given prompts related to thematic essays or AP Language exam questions
Secondary Fiction students will be given an assortment of AP English Language Exam questions

AFT is sensitive to the safety of the students and their families. Location is going to be chosen to accommodate students’ safety both from the spread of the virus as well as their personal safety. Face masks should be worn at all times, unless CDC guidelines have changed by June, students should also provide their own hand sanitizers, and distances between students will be followed by the latest CDC guidelines at that time. No eating will be allowed.
